This is the best shoe for custom insoles! Plenty of room in the box. Plenty of room for a high instep. Heel is just right for my smaller heel, no slipping.
I've tried many many different shoes I've the years and these are by far the best for me. I would highly recommend.

After purchasing but before wearing I took these shoes to my podiatrist who examined them & said they are excellent shoes for me with problem feet (arthritis). My orthotics fit easily into these shoes. He especially liked the wide toe box & flexible heel.

The MXV Shift is the next best thing to walking on pillows. The insole is comfortable yet supportive and prevents me from having foot pain after hours of standing at work. My one critique of this shoe is that the shoe rides up too high by the ankles, so it often pushes up on the ankle as I'm walking or turning a corner. The comfort of the insole will keep me in these shoes for a while, until something more sleek comes along. I've worn Abeo exclusively for work for the past 6 years, and I'm hoping to continue finding comfort in these shoes.
